Wildlife on One - S04E01 - Squirrel on my Shoulder (May 31st 1979)

Another Wildlife on One episode, Narrated by David Attenborough. I'm quite happy to be able to share this one with everyone as the only copy available online until now was from a 16mm film transfer, and while the quality of the transfer was good, it seem that it was missing some musical elements compared to the broadcast version.

This is the remarkable story of an orphaned baby Grey Squirrel, found by chance in the wilds of the Oxfordshire countryside. In a desperate attempt to keep him alive, John Paling, cameraman and producer of this film, successfully introduced Sammy' to his cat and her newly-born litter of kittens. This endearing film features the relationship between Sammy, his foster parent and her family. The squirrel's progress becomes a frantic story of domestic chaos as he plunges into the pastry, nests in the food mixer and charges round the picture rail while he prepares for his return to the wild.

Another tape transferred with my new VHS-Decode setup. As usual, I tweaked the image a bit, de-interlaced it and generated new subtitles for it.
